My preschooler went to see the animals at Ark Avilon Zoo in Frontera Verde, Pasig City today. His very first words when we entered the zoo?
“We’re going to have an adventure, right?”
I nodded, and smiled. Visiting a zoo has always been one of his favorite adventures, and I love it. It feels like having the animals in the books I read to him come to life.
It’s his second time to visit Ark Avilon but he was still very little on his first so everything seemed new to him. He was totally wowed to see the tiger, lion, puma and the jaguar (He identified them all correctly!). I just wasn’t able to take photos of these animals as he was asking endless questions about them. (I’m sure you share the same story, too, when you take your kids outdoors– you have very little time to take photos because you spend most of the time answering their questions. But we’re loving it when they ask, right? Outdoors teach our kids to be curious and observant.)
I wanted to pull off a” rugged look” for the kid in this zoo visit so I had him wear jeans on jeans but then again, when I asked him to wear his boots (which is a very comfy pair of Dr. Kong), he said, “No mama, I want the one that lights” (he was referring to his favorite Star Wars shoes that he has been wearing for two weeks!). I asked the kid to smile for this outfit pose but this was what I got:
After exploring the first floor of this two-storey zoo, we went to the second floor where rabbits, ponies, deer and chickens are housed. Kyle enjoyed feeding the animals!
Right before we left, I asked him to pose with the parrot. He initially didn’t like to hold the bird but after processing him that it is friendly, he gave me a yes-I’ll-try-mom response (which he eventually loved!).
The boy had a great time at the Ark Avilon Zoo. I’ve received hugs and kisses from him at home, thanking me for this zoo trip. Sweet. =)
