15 Outdoor Activities My Preschooler Loves

My preschooler loves to stay outdoors. He loves the morning sun, the smell of flowers, the sound of the waves, and all the the new experiences that the outdoor brings.  His favorite outdoor activities? Fishing, bird watching, camping and planting anything, to name a few.

If you ask him to tell you about his first fishing experience, he would enthusiastically talk about how he and his cousin stayed for long hours in the pond until they finally caught a fish! Hiking? He would gladly narrate his visit to the Makiling mountains and tell you about the colorful birds that he saw there.

I am one proud mom seeing him beaming with joy sharing his little experiences. (We sometimes use outing as a reward for a good act did). Here then, I am sharing our preschoolers most-loved actives at the outdoors

1. Hiking and getting close to nature.

I will always remember Kyle’s hiking adventure. It was a whole new experience for him and so he was excited all though out. His lolo had to carry him on his way back though because he got really tired! Cute!

2. A day at the beach or lake.

Kyle’s had his first beach experience in Ballesteros, Cagayan, his lolo’s hometown. He truly enjoyed running on the sand. His stories about the beach lasted for weeks!

3.Bird watching.
Seeing birds perching on a tree never fails to amuse the boy. I love it when he says, “Mommy, loooook!”

4. A camping adventure.

Pitching a tent in the yard is our usual activity when we’re at my parents’ country home (I hope to have a spacious garden here in Manila so we can pitch a tent anytime, too!)

5. Exploring historical landmarks and museums.
Kyle loved our walking tour in Intramuros and he enjoyed his educational trip to The Mind Museum. There are still several historical landmarks and museums here in Manila that we are ought to explore!

6.Riding a bike.
They say that bike riding is an important skill that child must learn as it promotes confidence. The boy enjoys biking around!

7.Attending a kid-friendly concert.
The first concert that the boy attended was Barney’s in Eastwood Mall. It wasn’t an outdoor concert though but it was one activity my preschooler really enjoyed!

8. A  trip to an aquarium.
My preschooler’s fascination with aquariums sparked when we took him to the Ocean Park. As usual, his eyes widened when he saw the ocean creatures! Our latest trip to the aquarium was at the Las Farolas, TheFish World (this is an indoor aquarium by the way).

9.Planting.
“When will I see it grow?”  The boy kep on asking upon dispersing mungo beans in his mini garden. He wouldn’t leave his plantation if I didn’t tell him that it will take a day for the mungo seed to germinate! The boy learned the value of patience and caring in this activity.

10.  Boat riding and fish feeding.
The boy enjoys fish feeding and boat riding at Nuvali. This explains why we’ve been to the play for 3 times already. (And oh, the dad is loving wakeboarding in the area, too!)

11.  Picking your own fruits and veggies
.
I want to go back to the Strawberry Farm in Baguio! I never went to the place though I stayed in Baguio for 4 years (I studied in UP Baguio). It was only when I got married and became a mom that I visited the farm so the kid could pick his own strawberries.

12.  Bathing under the rain!
Not all moms will agree on me on allowing kids to bathe under the rain but I had Kyle experience this in the province (where the air is cleaner). Oh, boy! The boy had the time of his life!  =)
13.  Attending (birthday) parties!
The boy’s favorite and my favorite, too! The Macalinaos love getting invited to kiddie birthday parties! =)

14.  Flying a kite.

My preschooler loves flying a kite. We even had this as his party theme on his second birthday. Read the Kite Party feature here.

15. Count how many animal shapes you can find in the clouds.
Oh yeah, this is so fun and relaxing. Lie down on the open field with your kid, look up, and count how many animal shapes you can find! =)

What is your favorite outdoor activity with your kid? I know you have exciting ideas, too!Mind to share?
