We can be more creative than by just having our kid sing the alphabet song; so don’t pull out the audiotapes just yet. Today, let’s rely on visual aids such as colorful alphabet picture books and other exciting activities to teach ABCs to our toddler.Here are some creative tricks to do with our kid:
1. Make edible alphabets.
Does your child enjoy eating cookies? Why not make alphabet cookies at home! Toddlers will surely enjoy learning the letters of the alphabet and eating the you’ve baked cookies as well!
2. Take advantage of the play dough.
Sine toddlers enjoy creating will play dough, play with him. Try creating letters with the play dough and form simple words such as “boy” or “mom” and let him experiment creating letters on his own.
3.Play the ABC game while cooking.
You can reinforce your toddler’s knowledge of the ABCs even when you are cooking. Have him identify letters on cookbooks and seasoning bottles. This is fun and easy to do!
4. Open a storybook.
Getting your child interested in listening to stories will give him the idea that books contain print, which is made up of letters. This is an excellent way of introducing the alphabet.
5. Make an alphabet finger painting.
Guide him in painting the letters of the alphabet using fingers. Remember to use a variety of colors and do not forget to hang your mommy-and-child painting on the wall! 🙂
The secret to teaching toddlers the alphabet is to have it appear as natural as possible, as if they are just having a game with a bag of fun!
