We’ve just arrived from our quick, unplanned trip to Baguio to celebrate Mother’s Day where my husband spontaneously drove me, my mom, and the kids for an overnight of spoiling. How sweet!
Early Sunday morning, I excitedly packed our things for an overnight holiday in the country’s summer capital right after my husband told us about his treat for me and my mom (which was barely hours before we left). Happily, Mama was with us for a short vacation so we had the chance to celebrate with her, to thank her on that very special day too!
I have so much to thank my mom. Aside from how she lovingly raised me, I am thankful that I have someone like her to share my own motherhood moments. She’s always with me in my ups and downs. Whether I am celebrating my child’s achievement in school, praying beside a hospital bed, celebrating a milestone… Mama holds my hands. She’s my cheerleader, my prayer leader, my love. These, and a thousand more reasons to thank her! I feel truly blessed to have her!
And, right in time for Mother’s Day, my father-in-law and sister-in-law’s family were also traveling back to their home in Isabela and were taking the Kennon road route hence we also took the chance to travel with them. They stopped over in Baguio and stayed with us for a few hours making the trip all the more special. Manang Che (my husband’s elder sister), has been helping me raise my kids as well. Happy to have her with us on that day, too. All in all, there were three mommas on that trip!
Baguio has always been a favorite destination of my family (it being my second home because I stayed there for 4 years to study). Since we’ve been to place for several times and have somehow explored all its corners, during our short holiday, we just opted to savor the cold breeze as the weather is extremely hot in Manila. We stayed in parks for hours, enjoyed boating, and had the kids play freely in the greens.

And, I got to enjoy lovelies like these, too!

And when the day was over, we went to Hotel Elizabeth to spend the night. Not a very fancy hotel, but it was comfortable with a good view. My heart was so full that night. All the persons I love are in one big room! Truly a God’s favor in my life!
So there, our Mother’s Day was celebrated with a sweet escape. It was a refreshing escape that readied me for my next year of mothering again… and I pray to have another great year of mothering, another awesome year of parenting for me and you!
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms in the world!
