My mommy friends told me that it’s not practical to host a yearly birthday party and I agreed; but when my little boy asked for one, I couldn’t say no! A good party does not have to be extravagant, however. We need not splurge as we can organize a simple but great one! Today, I am featuring the DIY kite-themed party I organized for the little boy right in my parents’ home!
When I phoned my mom and dad about our short vacation in the province and our plan of celebrating Kyle’s third birthday at our home, they were very happy. And as soon as I told papa that I will be decorating his garden for the event, he got all the more excited (mama secretly told me that he started pruning the grasses right after our conversation..haha)!
Let me share with you how we celebrated Kyle’s 3rd birthday.
Party Theme: Let’s Fly a Kite!
I love themed parties. For Kyle’s third birthday, I wanted to add personality to the simple gathering and so I came up with a theme I can work on with. Since my little boy enjoys watching his playmate flying a kite, I thought of coming up with a kite party so he could fly a kite himself too.
Party Details: DIY
I first wanted to use just the color blue for the decorations and for all the other party details but then I changed my mind. Instead, I used bright-colored buntings to contrast the all-green surroundings. Buntings were not difficult to make. We cut triangle crepe papers, stapled them together on a yarn, and instantly, they dressed the garden and made it look really festive! Thanks kuya Adrian and ate Tin for helping us.
Look, even the path going to our fish pond’s nook was decorated with buntings too! And oh yes, that’s a real turkey, it seems that he joined the party! 🙂
My mom personalized the giveaways…
I’ve arranged a small safari play area for the kids.

I’m glad there were flowers all over our garden. Instant decors diba?
I’ve also created the party signage. 🙂
Welcome to Kyle’s Kite Party!
The kids had games and The stage lola was the host. Her witty jokes made the party lively!
For food, we served turkey estofado, meatballs, embotido, fried chicken, pork estofado, barbeque, spaghetti and pancit Cabagan. For dessert, the guests had chocolate cake and fruit salad. I’ve also prepared a table of sweets!
The Three-Year-Old Boy!
Day by day, while Kyle was watching me working on the party details, his excitement was mounting! And when he finally saw them up on his birthday, he was very happy. He ran here and there, and danced everywhere! He truly had a great time!
I’m glad the party went well. Kids went home happy, and my little boy was happy too– goal achieved!
It was already dark outside when Kyle blew the candle. And while everyone was singing the birthday song for him, I was teary eyed. Gosh, my little boy ain’t so little anymore. I prayed and wished for another healthy and amazing year for him.
Thank you guests for celebrating with us and dear God for the fun kite party.

Let’s stay connected:
Hi! Is this a private place?
Yes. It’s my parents’ home. =)
Ohhh! Too bad! Any outdoor area that you can recommend? My boy’s first birthday is fast approaching and still can’t spot a venue. Help pls. Perhaps, you can email me at eva.p.gozon@gmail.com
I think it’s a good idea to have this theme. Kids should appreciate the outdoors.:)
