Behind the Little Things

Ah, yes. We’re still in the very first week of this brand new year. But by now, you’re probably back to your regular programming already. The school kids are back to school and you’re certainly back to work. In short,  you’re back to your regular routine.

Every day, may I be able to see that behind every little thing I do for my children, I do it for His glory!

Okay. So I was talking about how I run my days right now. I am now running the brand new year with my usual mom life. With tasks like cooking, cleaning, homework assisting, lunch packing and more while nursing and looking after a little baby in tow (plus some writing jobs  in between),  I guess you could imagine how my every day is.

I am not complaining, I know several of you do a whole lot more than I do because moms do a million of things daily, isn’t it?  It’s just sinking in that mothering is not always pretty.  We moms clean smelly poops, we change diapers, we wipe snotty noses, we get peed and we wash muddy hands. Then, we kiss cuts, we hug away bad dreams, and drive away tantrums!

While I love doing things for my kids, admittedly, there are times that in the midst of a long day with tasks that seemingly fall at the same time, I could say that nobody sees my hardwork. That nobody appreciates me and I am simply very tired with the little things I do.

This very moment in this brand new year, I pray that in days like those, may I remember  that I have a God who sees even the tiniest detail that I do, who loves me and appreciates me dearly. And I pray that you will remember that, too. May we always keep in our hearts that we have God who entrusted us to do the small things for our kids. The God who entrusted His biggest treasures to us: Our children. His children!

My prayer for myself and for other moms for this new year is that we may be able to find meaning in things we do. May the little things we do for our kids be done as our holy offering to our dear God. I pray that in the midst of a busy mommy day, just when we feel tired and weary, may we remember to say, “Lord I am doing this for You!” That way, we could do every little thing with such a delightful spirit!

Very well said! I agree that sometimes, we feel like no one appreciates the menial things we do at home everyday. But I believe that eventually, all the hardwork will pay off—our children will grow up to be good-hearted people who will appreciate even the simplest of things. 🙂
