Wow, you’re seven years old today. Happy Birthday! You know what anak? I am so thankful to see how wonderful you have grown: Gentle and caring Kuya to your little brother, sweet and obedient son to me and dad, funny and cool to your classmates and friends. I am one proud mom to have you, I am sure dad is just as proud!
As I write this, you are now sleeping in bed with your brother because you are both very tired from your playdate at the mall. I can’t sleep yet because I wanted to write you before I doze off. It has been Mama’s yearly tradition to write you on your birthday. And happily, you now enjoy reading each letter because you can read so well already! You even sometimes ask me to show you my previous blog posts about you when you were smaller. You love reading about your milestones and silly antics. Ready yourself, son, you’re just about to hit several more amazing big things!
My dear Kyle, today, you are a certified big kid already. I am happy to see that you are growing to be a brilliant and independent kid. I can’t help but marvel how fast you are growing!
And to document how you are and your favorites at this stage again, you love collecting Pokemon cards and Nerf guns, you enjoy making your own coloring book and you have a little chick and a duckling in our backyard. You are also really into dancing. You can’t wait for the Reading of Honors so you can perform onstage! You’ve been getting perfect scores in your Summative Tests, too! (Woot! I am so proud that you enjoy our study sessions every day!). You are so awesome and you continue to amaze me and dad!
Anak, just like the previous years, I again have my wishes for you. I’ll say them in prayers because wishes do come true through Him.
I pray that you’ll grow up to be a RICH man. Rich in faith, friends, talents, wisdom, loved ones and people to love.
I pray that you’ll MAKE LOTS OF FRIENDS. Friends to love and to laugh with. Writing this reminds me of the song “7 Years Old. ” The song goes:
Once I was seven years old, my mama told me,
“Go make yourself some friends or you’ll be lonely.”
Once I was seven years old…
Yes, son. Make friends. I want you to keep that in your heart as you grow. And as you do, I pray you’ll find friends who are God-fearing, and loyal. Friends who will be always there for you (and you should always be there for them, too). There’s nothing like having friends to lean on, so if you’ll find them, cherish them.
I pray for your HEALTH. I pray that you will always be strong and healthy. Take care of yourself all the time.
I pray for EXCELLENCE in your chosen field. I pray that when you’re all-grown, you’ll have a career where you can use your gifts and enjoy your passion, a career that will bless you to provide the needs of your future family. May you live in abundance and be a blessing to others. May you never be afraid to chase your dreams.
I pray for a COMPASSIONATE HEART. May you have a heart soft for the poor, and a heart that willingly forgives those that will hurt you. I pray for a kind, forgiving and loving heart.
I fervently pray that you continue to love the people around you and God. Love God with all your heart. (Thank you for leading our nightly prayers before bedtime. May our family give more time to know him more.)
I pray that you will forever be a GREAT BROTHER to Trey. Love him son, as you love yourself.
And while you are seven and this young, I pray that you will enjoy your childhood to the fullest! Play outside, play with your cousins, play with your friends! Play harder! =)
Lastly, I also pray for myself and your dad. I pray for long healthy life, long enough to raise you till you and your brother are ready to live on your on. I pray for wisdom and guidance so that we can always shed light to your life, so that we can lead you towards the right path to traverse. I also pray for our strength so that we can always protect and shield you. I pray for God’s provision so that you and your brother can live comfortably.
P. S. Let’s have a great time in Boracay next week to celebrate your birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Anak. We love you!
