From cute bunnies to colorful eggs and chicks, Easter is an exciting time for our kids. It is also an ideal time to teach basic learning concepts such as colors, shapes and fine motor skills. So if you’re brewing an Easter party and looking for some free invitation templates or some Easter party ideas, won’t you stop here for a while? 🙂
Here are some fun and educational games that kids can play during the party.
1. Egg-stravagant Egg Hunting!
What Easter party will ever be complete without the egg hunting activity? A little planning can actually make the egg hunting game more enjoyable for kids. Here, let’s add a twist.
Color Code
Assign a color for kids of the same age to hunt. This will ease the pressure, give better chances for the smaller ones and teach the basic concept of colors to toddlers. This way, the young eggs-plorers can relax, learn and look for their own color without worrying about who’s finding more!
Make a Map
Kids will definitely love the feeling of being “young eggs-plorers”. Give each child a map to read. Use picture clues for non-readers and riddles for the older ones. This will make the egg-hunting game so much fun!
Add a Piñata
Yup, a piñata isn’t just for birthday parties, it can be an egg-citing activity for Easter parties too! If you’re using plastic eggs, ask kids to place them in a piñata once they’ve been found. Then, ask each kid to try his/her luck by hitting it with a bat while blindfolded. The one who finally bursts it open will get more Easter treats!
2. Color a Chick
Oh yes, we’ve all tried the egg coloring activity during Easter parties but why not color a chick this time to develop kids’ fine motor skills? Simply follow this link to print the image below for the kids to color!
3. Try Hand Painting!
While I was browsing for some fun activities online, I came across this fun handpaint activity! Guide kids in handpainting Easter chicks and instantly spark their artsy instinct! They will only need a marker for the eyes and feet and then some yellow, orange and pink non-toxic paint for for this activity. After painting the chicks, have them write a short Happy Easter note to give to their parents. How cool is that?
4. Storytelling about the essence of Easter
Do the kids know why we celebrate Easter? The Easter party may be the best time to tell them of their need for Christ. Tell the kids why we celebrate Easter. They may not fully understand you yet but soon they will! 🙂
