For me, every wedding is a fairytale and has its own special story to tell; and I will never forget Sergio and Rica’s. Their intimate destination wedding is a perfect example of why small can be just perfect, even if their very romantic set-up got soaked in the rain right when they were exchanging their vows.
While typing this post, I am recalling the the truly marvelous lakeview infront of me last September 7 at Club Balai Isabel, Talisay Batangas. Before the wedding ceremony started, we had several minutes to appreciate nature’s beauty and, of course, the dreamy wedding details. The sun was up and its soft rays created a truly relaxing atmosphere. The lakefront was dressed with fresh white blooms and and the blowing of the wind cast a spell of romance at their celebration.
I savored every moment, and in as much as I could, I tried to captured them into my camera frame.
The ceremony started. One by one, the wedding entourage slowly walked their way to grace the event. And then Sergio came. That was my first time to see him. I will never forget the way he looked that moment. He was smiling and his eyes were too expressive not to see his great love for Rica. “He looked so much in love,” I whispered to my friend. She giggled and agreed. And then came the woman he is in love with, walking slowly from the infinity pool at a distant, marching towards her groom, and towards their journey together, forever.
The wedding ceremony was blissful. But while I was savoring the beautiful view of the lake, the volcano, the lush trees, the sailing boats, the gentle lapping of the waves, it rained all of a sudden.
I had no umbrella and so I ran towards the tree house. I almost fell when I climbed up but I manged to hold on to the railings.
From the tree top, I witnessed the couple pronounced as husband and wife. In a few minutes, the other guests were running towards the covered reception, followed by the bride and groom, who were also caught in the rain.
But the sudden downpour didn’t ruin their wedding. Rica and Sergio remained cool and composed. In fact, that moment highlighted the most significant element: their love for each other, just when every detail that added whim to their celebration got soaked in the rain.
Their wedding was truly a memorable affair and I will forever remember how carefree and in love the two are, rain or shine. 🙂
