I always start my month with my goals set. But for the past two months, I had to put my goals and to-dos on hold.
I’ve never told you, but the start of the year turned out to be very difficult for me. On the second week of January, my eyesight suddenly turned blurred and dim. I could hardly see! You could imagine how helpless I felt. I was so worried and upset!
I wanted to do so many things as planned, but I just couldn’t. I was advised to rest my very eyes.
So for the past two months, I had to see doctors for my eye treatment. You might have noticed that I barely shared new posts on my blogs. No, I wasn’t procrastinating at all.
During those tough times, it came to me that there was this one thing I failed to write in my to-do list. To PAUSE.
As a mom and a blogger, I must admit that I am a multitasking control freak! My day usually starts at 3 a.m. and ends late at night. I juggle so many things in my hands. I barely set a window for rest. This is why, I was all about slowing down and allotting margin for the things we love to do in my past emails… because I am working on those for myself, too.
As women, particularly mothers, we all do too much!
The one thing I’ve learned?
The Lord is reminding me to rest. I worried too much. I worked too much. I realized I needed to pause and relax, right at His feet.
If you’re also feeling tired and exhausted with all the things that you’re doing right now, don’t feel guilty to take that time out.
Remember the Bible Story about Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-41?
The sisters open their home to Jesus as He travels with His disciples. Martha does all the preparations while her sister Mary just sits at the feet of Jesus while listening to Him. Martha then says to Jesus, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” Jesus replies,
Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:41-42
My challenge for you and me this month is to make it more intentional and purposeful. Let us be excellent in our craft but as we do, may we not forget to pause and to listen to His wisdom.
And if you’re feeling too tired and busy today, take this very moment to PAUSE. “Easy there, Martha!”
