Johnson’s Active Fresh: “Let the Kids Play Outdoors!”

Back when I was a kid, whenever my brother and cousins would say, “Let’s play!”, it would mean going out  in our  backyard (and sometimes even on the side streets) to play! Our favorite games? Patintero, Agawan Base, Sipa, Tumbang Preso and Taguan! These days, however, many kids spend much of their play time indoors, playing on their iPads, or cellphones. What happened to the fun games the kids of my generation once had?

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you must have read some posts of mine promoting outdoor play. I love outdoor play because it allows our kids to explore the world around them! Not only that, it also develops their muscle strength, flexibility, and confidence! So when I got invited to Johnson’s Active Fresh event last March 30, 2014 in Market!Market! for the grand launching of the Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh Shadow Playground (which promotes outdoor games for kids), of course I confirmed to join!

At the event, friends from the media and some fellow bloggers together with our kids were first gathered at The Old Spaghetti House where Johnson’s hosted a very informative talk presenting the importance of sending kids outdoors to play.  The gathering at TOSH was really like the good old days for me because the icons I look up to when I was a kid were there. You see, Kuya Bodgie of Batibot, my favorite TV show way back, hosted the event. And Camille Prats, the kid I grew up watching, was there to share some mommy tips! I truly enjoyed the nostalgia brought on by the show!

Mommy Camille shared the importance of outdoor play for the holistic development of the child. She narrated how she allows her child Nathan to play outdoors. He encourages her kid to play soccer, basketball and other active games. “He even chases chickens whenever we’re in our house in Batangas!” Mommy Camille smilingly shared.

Camille also talked about her childhood before Showbiz, how she and her brother John Prats would freely play outdoors after their afternoon naps. She said that she entered showbiz when she was seven, and before showbiz, she regularly enjoyed playing outdoors together with his brother just like any other kid!

The Senior Brand Manager of Johnson’s Baby, Kris Llanes, also shared that outdoor play is beneficial to children’s holistic development. She also mentioned the beauty of play as a form of parent-and-child bonding. “Playful Parenting is a way to enter a child’s world… to foster closeness, confidence and connection.” She said.  I couldn’t agree more! That is why… I so much love to play with my kid!

The Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh Shadow Playground Launch

After the very meaningful talk on the importance of outdoor games at TOSH, we all headed to the GRAND opening of the Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh Shadow Playground, the first-of-its kind play platform in the world located right at  Playzone in Market!Market! Here are some photos at the event:

Awesome dance number in the Shadow Playground!

And right after the opening number, there was a shower of confetti! I had goose bumps! The view at the Johnson’s Playground at that very moment was just so spectacular! I was super glad Kyle was there to have witnessed the remarkable launch with me. His eyes grew bigger in amusement. What a great job, Johnson’s!

Then we all tried the Shadow Playground. My son and I enjoyed it so, so much! True enough, as the Johnson’s campaign goes, “Di lang Laro ang Laro!” Ang daming natutunan ni Kyle! Johnson’s recommends that we allow our kids to play for at least 60 minutes a day!

Camille and Nathan had fun at the Shadow Playground too!

Isn’t it that we moms naturally fear outdoor play because of the effect of the sun, and of course the sweaty smell of our kids? Johnson’s had all these in mind, hence the Shadow Playground.  This playground is just the perfect place for us and our kids because they can “play and learn all day under the sun”.  What makes this truly unique is that it makes use of the sun to cast shadow games where children can play, that as the sun moves, the games change.

Johnson’s also has a new range of products,  the Active Fresh Bath and Powder, with a technology that can release a long-lasting fragrance upon contact with sweat to keep kids smelling and feeling fresh longer! Sabi nga ng Johnson’s “Habang mas pinapawisan, mas bumabango!” This is all because of its new Active Fresh Technology which has sweat-activated fragrance that releases a pleasant long-lasting smell when it comes into contact with sweat!

The kid also requested to slide! Ang bango pa rin ni Kyle kahit pinagpawisan dahil sa Johnson’s Active Fresh powder! There were roving Johnson’s ladies at the playground powdering kids!

Johnson’s also invited my kid for a shoot. I was so happy while they’re taking videos and pictures of the boy. Sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, you are shooting a Johnson’s baby talaga. Read about my Johnson’s Baby posts here! =) I posted this photo on my Facebook and IG accounts and it earned several likes. Thanks, friends! =)

You may now also enjoy bonding and playing with your kid at the Johnson’s Shadow playground as everyone is invited to play! The playground is available until April 30! Here are the games and their mechanics which you will surely enjoy doing together!

  • “Maze” teaches children strategy. Mom will stand at the center of the maze and her child will need to find his way to mom by avoiding the blocked paths. The first child to reach and hug mom wins!
  • “Flamingo” teaches children balance. Mom and child will need to balance only one foot and hold on to each other for support. The pair that balances the longest will win.
  • “Froggy Jump” teaches children concentration. Mom will jump on odd-numbered leaves while child jumps on even-numbered leaves. The pair who jumps without stepping out of the leaves and finishes with the fastest time wins!
  • “Snakes and Ladders” teaches children teamwork. The child will stand on the “start box” while keeping his eyes closed. He will need to follow mom’s voice as she instructs him to jump long or short. They will need to aim for the ladders and not the snakes! First pair to reach the end wins!
  • “Piko”  teaches children coordination. Mom and child will use a stone or coin as a marker. They will throw this to land on the squares, without touching the lines. Then, they will hop on one foot through the single square and land on both feet on double squares – fastest pair to finish wins!

Thank you Johnson’s for inviting us! The Johnson’s Active Fresh Shadow Playground Launch was so grand and so fun! =)
