This post is brought to you by Colgate, the leader in oral care!
To keep the Filipino smile bright and healthy, Colgate, in partnership with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), together with Watsons, celebrated the Oral Health Month at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City last February 16, 2014 with activities that upheld oral health awareness! Their goal? To promote ZERO Cavities!
Several booths that endorsed oral health awareness were set up in the area. There was even a booth for free dental check-up!
Kids and adults alike also enjoyed the interactive games and activities at the booths. Remember Colgate’s advertisement that checks the bacteria build-up in mouth? I tried that too! =)
To further encourage the young ones to brush their teeth, Colgate had an awesome presentation for the younger audience that involved their mascots: the Tooth Defenders. Kids very much enjoyed watching how Dr. Brushwell and his team fought against the Tooth Monsters! And since Oral Health Month is a month-long celebration, Colgate and PDA also visited far-flung barangays nationwide to access dental check-ups and Colgate products.
Activity cards were given and participants who were able to complete 4 stamps in the card by joining the activities got the chance to win exciting prizes in the raffle! There were also giveaways of Colgate products to those who posted pictures at the event using #ColgateZeroCavities and a VIP pass for a minimum single receipt purchase of P150 from the Watson’s booth. The VIP pass entitled the participants for one of the following: Meet and Greet with Tooth Defenders, Meet and Greet with Solenn Heussaf and Storytelling with Solenn.
Kids excitedly listened to Solenn while she shares a story on the value of having good oral hygiene.
Promote oral health awareness at home!
As moms, we all know how important it is to keep mouth clean beacuse a healthy mouth is the jumpstart to overall health and well-being. Everyone at home needs to be educated on this, especially our kids.
How do you get your little ones to brush? Me? Kyle is really motivated to brush his teeth beacuse of the Colgate jingle he hears on TV, the “Brush, brush, brush 3x a day…”! (Kyle now brushes his regulary because of that commercial!haha) Aside from the song, giving him a fancy toothbrush works, too! He’s currently using a brush that lights up every time he brushes! It is important to develop his oral hygiene at a young age to avoid teeth, gum and mouth problems. As Colgate puts it, “Prevention is always better than cure.”
Colgate also offers kid-friendly toothpastes that taste good with enticing pictures of our kids’favorite characters. The boy currently has the Spiderman toothpaste at home.
Part of the media kit given to me during the event are pictures of the Tooth Defenders. I printed them and used for our storytelling at home to further promote oral health awareness to Kyle. The kid enjoyed our storytelling, and you might want to try it too! Here’s how!
Storytelling with your kids with the Tooth Defenders!
1. Cut out the pictures.
2. Get Popsicle sticks and glue 1 stick at the back of each picture. (The sticks will serve as picture handles.)
3. Create your own “Tooth Defenders” story with the paper puppets as your props!
Print and cut the images below and use them as props in your storytelling activity! Right click the images to save!
It’s really important for us to teach our kids the value of having a good oral hygiene.
Let’s goal for ZERO cavities in every home! Have a great day ahead, moms!
