It was another rainy morning and there was no one else at home but just the two of us. Manang had a day off while Alex worked over time. I wanted to have a mommy-and-son moment and so I planned a simple yet meaningful activity.
When Kyle woke up, I said. “Good morning boy scout, how about a camping today?” And my little boy’s smile reached his ears.
Here’s what we did!
We set up a tent.
The little man and I set up the tent. Since kiddie tents are very easy to assemble nowadays, it just took us a few minutes to put it up.

This is my tent. It was given to me by my ninong Carlos. 🙂 |
Kyle gathered his favorite toys and books.
“Kyle, get all your favorite toys and books and put them in the tent,” I ordered my boy. And just like a true boy scout, he immediately and excitedly responded.

Mario, when mama is holding her camera you should smile like this! |
We had fun activities.
After playing his favorite toys, it was time for storytelling. It was a mommy and child bonding moment and so I have chosen to read, “Guess How Much I Love You” by Sam Mcbratney.

I call this bear, “ading.” He’s my little “brother.” |
We ate together.
I cooked fried chicken and fries while Kyle was playing cars. When the food was ready, we ate inside the tent. I felt like a very good cook looking at my boy munching the chicken with gusto!
We planted Munngo
When the rain finally stopped, I immediately told my boy to get ready for his first planting adventure! Yes, just like what mommy Neva did, Kyle too planted Monggo. 🙂 And every now and then, he was checking if the mongo beans were growing. I will tell you more about this! :).

It has been a great camping day. And it’s so true when they say that we need not “go somewhere” to create great bonding moments with our kids. 🙂
awww cute! We used to do this when my kids could still fit inside those little tents. 🙂 Gwapo your boy!
