Just like most moms, I try to capture all the little things that my child does because those little things really mean big to me.
I love taking little Kyle’s photographs. When he was a month-old, I was then off from work and so I had all the time in the world to capture his little deeds. Oh how I miss those days! I always had my camera handy. I took photos of him rubbing his eyes, moving his little feet, opening his mouth and even closing his eyes. I especially love the photo I took when he suddenly smiled while asleep, as if baby angels were playing with him. That was one precious moment!
I’ve never had a photography lesson and I certainly do not have that high-tech camera, but in my heart, I believe to have captured perfect pictures of my son. And I am keeping those memories in scrapbooks.
Why scrapbooks?
Scrapbooks allow me to tell the stories behind my photos of Kyle. Yes, years from now, it would be fun to to look at the photo of my giggling boy but isn’t it more fun to know that the he giggled because his dad played pick-a-boo with him? Isn’t it also great to have a journal of his first crawl, first step and first word? Scrapbooks make me preserve written stories behind the pictures I take.
I keep four scrapbooks for my son. The first one is all about his milestones from 0-11 months old, the second one is on his birthday, the third is about his first step to his spiritual journey (his baptism) and the fourth, his milestones from 13 months old to present.

I love scrapbooking because it allows me to paste together pieces of love that we share in our family. If I can preserve a fraction of those happy memories to bring smiles later on, that will be the grandest feeling of all.
Years from now, when my little boy has grown into a man, he would see and read how his life was with me and his dad. We might not always be there, but with the scapbooks I make for him, we will certainly be.
