There are moments in life that leave us altered. For me, entering motherhood is one defining moment that changed me. It has turned me into a discerning person, making sure that my child is safe and nurtured, always.
The moment I held my little boy in my arms, and that very moment our eyes locked for the very first time, I told myself that I am responsible for the blessing entrusted to me, the little boy I named Kyle. I was the proudest mom (and I still am!) and so I have joyfully shared my story. I wanted people to read my defining moment: motherhood.
I think being discerning is something that comes out naturally to a mom. Motherhood has trained me to be deliberate in my choices for my child. I have learned to decipher what is best for him. And that includes making sure that he is always out of harm.
Keeping My Child Safe
As a mom, I know that I play an important role in keeping my child safe. When Kyle was still an infant, I had my own little ways to ensure his safety: I made sure that his crib was always comfortable and secure, that his clothes were clean and sterile (they have to be ironed first) and that his bath had a safe water temperature. I had to check on those things to make me at peace (I think becoming a worrier also comes natural to moms)!
Now that he is a terrific toddler who is always active, keeping him safe has become more challenging! Everything seems new to him and that there is so much to explore around! One moment you would find my boy standing on a chair trying to reach something, and in a blink of an eye, you would see him jumping out! Oh boy!
Because my little explorer is always on the go, I need to “childproof” our home. Here are my simple ways to ensure home safety:
- Since the boy is attracted to reaching something up high and that he has this tendency to prop himself up using a chair or his toy boxes, I make sure not to display anything that would prompt him to climb and reach out for it.
- I softened sharp edges by putting corner guards because the boy loves to drive his little car around!
- I make sure that he is never out of sight when he plays and that that his toys meet the safety standards before he could hold them (I worry a lot on lead poisoning!).
- That our gate is locked at all times because he is interested in snooping to bike around the neighbourhood by himself too!
- I also make sure that his food and water intake is safe.
When I received a sponsorship offer from Wilkins to write a post, I was all-smile because I am going to talk about the only brand I’ve entrusted my son’s drinking water with because of its safety: Wilkin’s Distilled . I can honestly tell you how I completely trust the brand.
Trusting Wilkins
Why did I choose Wilkins? You may ask. It’s because it is distilled, thus safe. It was actually my sister-in-law Pet who first advised me to have Kyle drink Wilkin’s because it is the brand of my nieces’ drinking water. Since I always look up to ate Pet (she is a very OC mom too, she does her own research on the products she purchases before her children use them), I listened to her. True, our kids never had waterborne sickness because their water is very safe.
As a mom, I want to keep my family protected. I see water safety as my responsibility. I know that I really cannot put a price on my family ’safety. I must say that I am especially strict when it comes to my child’s drinking water. It has to be distilled, it has to be only Wilkins. My being OC mother reminds me of how OC Wilkins is when it comes to water safety.

Hello Khaye ! I am new follower of your blog. I just would like to know if we have to promote “Wilkins Distilled Water ” in your entry or will it be fine to just simply share your story as an uncompromising mom?
